The Piercing Process
Consultation
We take time to explain the process and ensure your child feels comfortable. We also recommend popping into the studio before the appointment so children can see the environment and understand what will happen on the day.We keep teddies and comfort items available for children to hold during the piercing, and they are always welcome to bring their own favourite toy.
Marking the Placement
We carefully mark both ears so parents and children can approve the position before the piercing. This ensures the placement looks balanced and everyone is happy before we begin.
Sterile Piercing
The piercing is performed using sterile, single-use equipment in a professional piercing environment. Lou works calmly and carefully so the process is quick and as comfortable as possible.
Aftercare Guidance
We provide clear aftercare advice to help ensure a smooth healing process. You’ll also receive a printed aftercare leaflet to take home, and you're always welcome to contact us if you have any questions during healing.
Children’s Ear Piercing – Frequently Asked Questions
What age can children have their ears pierced?
We offer children’s ear piercing for ages 8 and above. A parent or legal guardian must be present at the appointment, and valid ID is required for both the parent/guardian and the child.
We find this age allows children to better understand the process and participate in caring for their new piercings during healing.
Is it better to use a needle or a piercing gun?
Professional piercers use sterile single-use needles rather than piercing guns. Needles are more precise, cause less tissue trauma, and allow jewellery designed for proper healing to be fitted immediately.
What jewellery is safest for children’s ear piercings?
We recommend jewellery made from implant-grade titanium or solid 14k or 18k gold. These materials are nickel-free and suitable for healing piercings, helping reduce irritation and allergic reactions.
How should we care for new ear piercings
Clean the piercing twice daily using a sterile saline solution. Avoid twisting or removing the jewellery during the healing period, and follow the aftercare advice provided by Lou
How long do ear piercings take to heal?
Most earlobe piercings take around 6–8 weeks to heal, although this can vary slightly from person to person. Jewellery should remain in place during the healing period to allow the piercing to stabilise.
What if there are signs of infection?
If you notice increasing redness, swelling, pain, or unusual discharge, you should seek medical advice. Following proper aftercare and using suitable jewellery significantly reduces the risk of complications.
What if my child changes their mind?
A professional piercer will always respect a child’s decision. Even if a parent has provided consent, the piercing will only go ahead if the child feels comfortable and happy to continue.
Will earrings need to be removed for school or sports?
Some UK schools require earrings to be removed or covered during PE or sports activities. It’s always a good idea to check your school’s policy before booking a piercing appointment.

Looking After Your Child’s New Piercing
We provide clear aftercare guidance at the end of every appointment so parents know exactly how to care for their child’s new piercing.
Children’s earlobe piercings usually heal within 6–8 weeks when cared for correctly. During this time, we recommend gently cleaning the piercing with sterile saline and avoiding unnecessary touching or twisting of the jewellery.
Every client also receives a printed aftercare leaflet to take home, so you have the instructions available whenever you need them.
If you ever have questions during healing, you're always welcome to contact the studio for advice — we're happy to help.
