Does it hurt?
Piercings can hurt, depending on the area you’re having pierced. Fortunately, the piercing itself is over very quickly, and most of our clients tell us there is little, to no pain and or that it feels like a little pinch or flick.
Common piercing areas, like ear lobes, are low in pain because there is no cartilage present. Areas with tougher cartilage can be a little more painful, but it’s over in seconds! Trust us, it’s nothing you can’t handle!
How old do I have to be to get a piercing?
You have to be 10+ for lobes and 16+ for everything else excluding intermate piercings which are 18+ you need to present us with a valid photo ID with your date of birth visible (passport or driving licence preferable). If you are under 16 your parent/guardian must also bring photo ID.
Is the body jewellery included in the price?
Yes, our high-grade titanium jewellery is included in the price however we do also offer a number of upgrades.
Do you use a piercing gun or needle?
We use disposable, single use needles exclusively as piercing guns are unhygienic and can’t be sterilised.
How long will shipping take?
Shipping times vary depending on the supplier and the item you order. Some items are in stock and can arrive within a few days, while others are made-to-order or sourced internationally, which may take up to 4 months. Estimated delivery times will be shown at checkout.
Can I track my order?
Yes! Once your item has shipped, you’ll receive a tracking number via email so you can follow your order’s progress.
What if I order multiple items?
If your order contains items from different suppliers, they may arrive in separate packages at different times. We’ll provide tracking for each shipment.
What happens if my order is delayed?
We’ll keep you updated on any changes in estimated delivery times. If your order takes longer than expected, our support team will work with you to find the best solution.
Do I need to book an appointment or can I walk in?
We do accept walk ins however we also recommend booking an appointment to secure your preferred time and avoid waiting, especially for more complex piercings.
How long will my piercing take to heal?
Healing times vary depending on the piercing location and how well it’s cared for. Earlobe piercings usually heal within 6–8 weeks, while cartilage and other body piercings can take several months. We’ll give you full aftercare advice to help speed up the healing process.
How do I book an appointment at Jynx Piercing?
Booking is easy, you can use our online booking portal on our website (click the “Book Now” button) to see available times and reserve your slot. A small £5 deposit is required to secure the booking (this goes toward your piercing). Alternatively, you can call or visit us in person to schedule. We do accept walk-ins when possible, but we tend to get busy, so booking ahead is recommended to guarantee you’ll be seen without waiting. For special requests or group bookings, feel free to contact us directly.
Can I Bring Jewellery With Me?
No, we only use jewellery approved by the APP (Association of Professional Piercers) that meets their strict standards. All jewellery must also be sterile.
Even if your jewellery is made by one of the brands we stock, we cannot install used jewellery in a new piercing. This is to ensure your piercing has the best possible start and promotes safe, trouble-free healing.
Is the studio wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our studio is fully wheelchair accessible and designed to be welcoming to everyone.
Is There Parking?
Yes, we have 3 spaces directly outside the front of our studio. In addition, there is a large car park to the rear off Osbourne Road with plenty of spaces and reasonable rates.
Can I go on holiday with a new piercing?
We do not recommend getting a piercing right before a holiday. Submerging fresh piercings in pools or the sea can increase the risk of irritation and infection.
For the best healing experience, it’s always safer to wait until after your return to get pierced.
Pregnancy/Breastfeeding
For your safety, we do not pierce anyone who is pregnant. During pregnancy, your immune system is under additional stress, which can make it harder for your body to heal and increase the risk of complications or infection.
We also recommend waiting at least one month after childbirth before considering a new piercing, as your body needs time to recover. If you are breastfeeding, it’s best to wait one month after you stop breastfeeding before being pierced. This helps ensure your body’s resources are fully available for healing, giving your piercing the best chance of success.
When Can I Pick my Jewellery?
At Jynx, our team is here to guide you in choosing the perfect jewellery — pieces that suit your anatomy, style, and budget.
If you’re new to piercing, we recommend arriving a little early so you can take your time browsing. You’re also welcome to pop in anytime to explore our collection.
We keep high stock levels of our most popular pieces, including classic essentials, opals, and Swarovski bezels. However, some of our most prestigious designs are available in limited numbers. If you’ve set your heart on a particular piece you’ve seen online, we encourage you to secure it in advance — either in-store or through our website — to avoid disappointment.
Can I Bring People To The Appointment?
Yes, you’re very welcome to bring a friend or family member along for support. We have a comfortable waiting area where they can relax during your appointment. Please note that space can be limited on busy days, so we kindly ask that you avoid bringing large groups, unless you’re all getting pierced together.
Should I eat before my piercing?
Yes — having a good meal beforehand helps keep your blood sugar stable and reduces the risk of feeling faint during your appointment.
Can I drink before my piercing?
Stay hydrated with water or soft drinks, but please avoid alcohol or recreational drugs for at least 24 hours beforehand, as these can thin your blood and affect healing.
What should I wear?
Wear clean, comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being pierced (e.g. a loose top for navel, a tank top for upper ear, etc.).
What if I Wake Up Feeling Unwell?
Your body needs to be in optimum health to heal a new piercing properly. If you wake up feeling unwell, whether it’s a cold, flu, or just feeling run down, please reschedule your appointment.
Getting pierced when you’re not at your best can slow healing, increase risks, and make the process less comfortable. It’s always better to wait until you’re fully well so your piercing has the best chance of success.
